Newsbytes.ph is a IT news website I made 4 years ago with WordPress + Elementor. The client had several news categories (IT News, Business IT, E-Learning, Gadgets, etc.). So using Elementor’s Template function I created several sections with each section as a News Category. So if at some point the client would want a different section to show up on the front page, I could just switch them around. Also if a new section was needed I’d just copy an existing one and change the ‘Query’ part to retrieve posts under that new category.
I also kept it clean and white because the client works very hard at updating their site (up to 25x a week) with new content with at least one image each. Hence the website was going to fill up with images improving the aesthetic, and there was no need to add swirling graphics or gradients that might distract the viewer, which is important because their content is the most important to highlight.
Challenges would be the several gb of data their site was taking up, which we took care of by hosting it at their own VPS which was more cost effective. Some performance issues occasionally happen such as when they publish something that attracts thousands of views. We may need to do some caching in the future to address this.
Even after some time I still enjoy looking at how clean and efficient it is and how I’m glad the client is using their website to its fullest potential.
