Whether you are using Windows or a Apple computer, there’s a feature called Accounts. Accounts allow you to set up your computer so that another person can use it. That other person will have his own Desktop, his own wallpaper, his own Documents etc. as if it was his own computer, all protected by a different password than the main account.
When you set up an Account the new account will show the default Windows or Apple desktop as if it was just newly bought or installed. That means you get a new fresh looking Windows or Apple desktop and icons without any personalization – as boring and aseptic as it can get.
While the main purpose of creating an Account is for another person to use your computer, we are going to use it for another purpose – as another account to use when you are going to make a presentation. This way the background is boring, you cannot accidentally display inappropriate pictures or videos or sudden viber or social media instant messages.
Assuming you are using a Windows 10 Computer, you can set up a new Account this way:
- Select Settings.
- Tap Accounts.
- Select Family & other users.
- Tap “Add someone else to this PC.”
- Select “I don’t have this person’s sign-in information.”
- Select “Add a user without a Microsoft account.”
- Enter a username, type the account’s password twice, enter a clue and select Next.
Now to share the PowerPoint file you created on your main account, save it or a copy of it in your C:\Users\Public directory:

When you switch accounts to the new one, this directory will have the file you saved there ready for you for your presentation.
This post was inspired by Comelec Chairman James Jimenez’ recent booboo. Jimenez is a great guy. A good guy I admire actually, so seeing him have to go through this is painful. Don’t let it happen to you.
